Metro: Last Light coming to Mac, Linux

Deep Silver reveals Mac version will launch on September 10, while Linux iteration coming later in the year; Metro franchise will "absolutely continue," says CEO.

Deep Silver and 4A Games announced today that a Mac version of will arrive on September 10, while a Linux iteration will be released later in the year.

In a statement, 4A Games chief technology officer Oles Shishkovstov said bringing the first-person shooter to Mac and Linux is "further testimony to the power and flexibility" of the studio's proprietary 4A Engine.

The Mac and Linux versions of Metro: Last Light are in development at 4A Games.

Metro: Last Light on Steam will support Steam Play and will receive the same downloadable content as the PC and console versions.

Separately, Deep Silver CEO Dr. Klemens Kundratitz told has been a "positive experience" and said the franchise will continue.

"I'm very glad we acquired that brand," Kundratitz said. "While it launched in a very dry space in the gaming calendar this year, it still got a lot of attention. Our ambition is to absolutely continue with that brand and we will also, in the next phase, look to making it more accessible for a broader gamer audience."
