In 1999, Nintendo released a game that would define a genre: Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64. The game pit classic Nintendo characters against each other in timed or stock death matches, but didn't follow the complicated combo structure of fighting games such as Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. Since then, Super Smash Bros. has owned the genre of console fighting games and has become a staple for each generation of Nintendo consoles. Then in 2012, Sony attempted to copy Nintendo's model with PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Which is worth your time? The answer is obvious, though the winner isn't perfect either.
