"With The Last of Us, Naughty Dog taps into a fear that sweeps the globe once every few years: the epidemic. Between the pandemics of SARS, bird flu and the swine flu, and other, less well-known outbreaks, fear has proven to be the predominating emotion when faced with such events. And is there any wonder? Although there has not been a cataclysmic epidemic on the scale of the Spanish Flu of 1918, which killed between 50- and 100-million people, since then, that is what the human race could face once again. A true epidemic could prove to be an apocalyptic event, bringing society to a crashing halt and humanity to its very knees. "This isnt a story about the end of the world, but about people living in the aftermath and it is from focussing on this ideal that the game draws its greatest strengths. Its more emotional than fun; introspective than spectacular and measured than bombastic, but these are no drawbacks." *Article contains spoilers*
