Whistler from Morbid Play writes, "For a while now Ive been debating the concept that the golden age of JRPGs was between the fifth and sixth generation of gaming in particular the PSX, PS2 and GBA that offered so timeless gems like Persona 4, Dragon Quest VIII, Vagrant Story, Fire Emblem and several Final Fantasy titles. My personal study tends to lead me to despair though as by the time the seventh gen consoles joined the party it seems that quality JRPGs have become fewer and farther between with a myriad of mediocrity, recycled tropes or just downright generic gameplay."
