A good many years ago, the console landscape only had two major players: Nintendo and SEGA. Ah, the days of SNES vs. Genesis... What a wonderfully long time ago.

During that time, each platform holder had their own silly mascot, both of which still live on in games today. Well, sort of. While Mario is still alive and well, some may argue Sonic is dead and died a long time ago, despite have several new games (of questionable quality) released fairly recently.
