Battling dangers such as pirates, meteorites and on-board ship failures, players are tasked with find the STS Hope, lost somewhere in the asteroid belt, and then bringing it home. To support Solar Storms Kickstarter drive, Lucid Dreams Studios have also released a standalone demo called "Solar Storm: STS-96". This is a tech and game demo, based around the first ever mission to Mars. Opposing this mission is the Great Filter Movement, who believe that to travel to another world will trigger the 'great filter', and destroy our planet. Players will get to experience the working mechanics of Solar Storm first-hand.
