Although Industrial Light and Magic's origin is inextricably tied to Star Wars, the studio that George Lucas founded in 1975 has since become a visual effect behemoth.
Since the release of the first Star Wars, ILM has worked on some of the most loved movies ever released, such as E.T., Back to the Future, and Jurassic Park, to name a few.
More recently, under the stewardship of Disney, it has reached major milestones in visual effects on movies such as Avengers Assemble, Cloud Atlas, Pacific Rim, and many others.
To celebrate its rich heritage, ILM has put together a short video that takes 40-years worth of its visual effects work and compresses it into an impressive one-minute showcase.
