The first PlayStation handheld was announced at E3 2003.
The PSP was announced at E3 2003 and launched in Japan in late 2004. It took almost another year for the system to arrive in Europe.
2007 saw the launch of the PSP-2000, followed by the PSP-3000 in 2008. The PSP Go made everything more compact by introducing a sliding screen in 2009.
The PSP range has sold 80 million units worldwide and was succeeded by the PS Vita late in 2011.
Sony hasn't said if PSP will live on in Europe.
