The term Ol' Boys Club conjures up the image of a room of cigar-chomping businessmen in pinstripe suits sitting around a country club telling dirty jokes. It represents an outdated ideology. These days, there is a New Boys Club. It's filled with comic books and video games, but the sign on the door reads the same: No Girls Allowed. Women have been knocking at that door since the inception of video games in the early 1970s, but like most boys clubs, the admission of women has been met with resistance and resentment. This became more evident with recent incidents surrounding Gamergate.
