Metro: Exploring the Lovecraftian horrors of a sunken world has resulted in one of the most atmospheric indie games of the year. Considering how much people like to name drop him and his characters H. P. Lovecraft has had disappointingly little influence on the world of video games. The complex mythology of his horror stories, with their mix of alien races and brain-washed cults, does seem perfect for gaming, but it tends to only be smaller games and indie titles which attempt to explore the themes he raises head-on. Sunless Sea is one such title, and the best reason since Jaws to put you off sailing for life.
