EB: Whats most disappointing about Odallus is its lack of character beyond its obvious nod to Castlevania. It wasnt funny, weird, ironic, or particularly gruesome or clever. It paid clear and highly competent homage to a particular style of gamewhich is a valid choice, of coursebut didnt add much of anything to the mix that made it a compelling or especially engaging experience. Perhaps its time for the duo at JoyMasher to turn their attention, impressive technical chops, and creativity to making less consciously derivative games.
