Tin Salamunic: My first few minutes of playing State of Decay were filled with confusion, rage, and astonishment. I was confused that a game so visually archaic was coming out in 2013, I was enraged at the sluggish framerate which made even the basic movement feel sloppyand I was astonished that thirty minutes later I couldnt put the controller down. On the surface, State of Decay comes off as a GTA/Left 4 Dead hybrid, but its RPG elements and brilliant concepts make it feel more like a survival simulator than a typical action game. Im 20+ hours in and I still cant pull myself away from its immersive world. State of Decay may not be a looker, but its the closest youll come to feeling like youre in the midst of a Walking Dead TV episode.
