State of Decay is a crowning achievement in the zombie genre, and more importantly, the survival genre. Undead Labs magnum opus hits all the right RPG-ish spots, with a deeply fulfilling post-apocalyptic world, base customization, elaborate character attributes and world effects, and a constant sense of permeating dread and urgency.
