The original Great Giana Sisters was so similar to Super Mario Bros that it was forced off store shelves. Owing to a series of miraculous circumstances the Giana Sisters have clawed their way back to existence and as of this week their latest game shares residence in the Wii U eShop alongside the latest spawn of the royal line, New Super Mario Bros U. So given both games have a direct line of inspiration back to more or less the same 8-bit design, what can Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams tell us about what a Mario platforming series free from the pressures of fame might have been like?
