2D-X - Oftentimes, console launch titles are weak, unexciting, and just ports of existing games. Looking back at all of the console launch titles, I can confidently say that both the Sega Dreamcast (September, 1999), Nintendo Entertainment System (November, 1985), and Atari 7800 (November, 1986) were the rare consoles to have truly strong starting line-ups. Dreamcast unleashed Soulcalibur, NFL 2K, and Sonic Adventure. NES had Excitebike, Ice Climbers, and Super Mario Bros. The 7800 had classic games that we still play today like Asteroids, Galaga, and Ms. Pac-Man. The remaining console launches suffered games that were less-than-memorable third party titles and mediocre exclusives. Sure, Halo: Combat Evolved and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess were fantastic, but other than those titles, these last generations have been very infamous for weak launch line-ups.
