Dead Or Alive 5: Last Round Review | Mouse n Joypad

MNJ: Strangely enough, there havent been many beat em ups on current-gen consoles up until now. Neither Namco nor Capcom have yet made their move, so Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja decided to current gennify (shut up, its a word now) their Dead or Alive 5 and let people beat each other up in 1080p with 60 frames per second, jiggle physics included. Quite literally. Of the three big franchises of this genre, Dead or Alive has always been the most casual one. Instead of focusing on ridiculously long combo attacks or technical knowledge of gameplay mechanics, Dead or Alive wants its players to have fun first and foremost. Granted, this doesnt mean that theres no depth to Last Round, just that its much easier to get into, and therefore perfect as a couch multiplayer game.

Dead or Alive: Last Round review | Digital Trends

DT: Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is the third and ostensibly final iteration of Dead or Alive 5, originally released in 2012. Team Ninjas fighter has seen multiple tweaks, character additions, and a bevy of costumes since then, but the ebb and flow of combat remains largely unchanged. And while its true that, essentially being a re-release, Last Round doesnt exactly need to reinvent anything, its nonetheless disappointing how dated the game can feel, and how out-of-order its priorities appear.

Alien Pinball Coming to the Atari 2600

Added: 25.02.2015 3:10 | 4 views | 0 comments

Carl Williams writes, "Pinball. A staple in most arcades and a genre that is quite misunderstood by most of the, dying, arcade going public. There is more to pinball than what players see as they pass by on their quest to put quarters into the latest one on one fighting game. There is finesse, strategy and technique mixed with sheer luck and player intervention between the ball and the playfield. Simply batting the ball around for points is not the only thing going on here. Alien Pinball for the Atari 2600 looks to bring a lot of that second sense play to one of the earliest home gaming consoles. So far, they are close to accomplishing that goal."

PopCults Review - Dead or Alive 5 Last Round

Added: 25.02.2015 2:10 | 2 views | 0 comments

Richard of PopCults.com writes "Admittedly, I am very open to this idea, even if I feel that it may be over the top at times. Yeah, it can be a bit much, but the ecchi fan in me is really happy with what is presented through the game. Frankly, and I really dont care what you think of me because of this view, I am very happy with the fan service and amount of sexuality in the game. It was what drew me to the original Dead or Alive in the first place. It is why I bought every version of Dead or Alive Xtreme. And it is why I am really enjoying Last Round, probably more than my score reflects. Yes, overall I give Last Round a B- in terms of the entirety of what it presents to gamers, but from my personal insights and what I enjoy, I am really enjoying my time with the game."

Review: Dead or Alive 5: Last Round (DarkZero)

Added: 24.02.2015 10:10 | 3 views | 0 comments

Dominic Sheard: "Following in similar footsteps as Capcom, Koei Tecmo has developed a new version to their popular fighting game series called Dead or Alive 5 Last Round, a title that sounds like this is going to be the final incremental update for Team Ninjas fifth major Dead or Alive game. This update also means that the franchise takes its first steps into the current generation, with both PS4 and Xbox One versions released. With Dead or Alive 5 on PS3/360, a Plus version on Vita and Dead or Alive 5: Ultimate on PS3/360, a lot of people will already know what to expect from the game, so even though Dead or Alive 5 Last Round now has the largest character roster, the largest costume selection of all time and probably in any fighting game - and the most stages in the history of the franchise, is this move to PS4 worth your attention?"

Dead Or Alive 5: Last Round Review | TSA

Added: 24.02.2015 2:13 | 2 views | 0 comments

TSA: Ive been playing the Dead or Alive series for the best part of fifteen years, jumping on the bandwagon with Dead or Alive 2 for the Dreamcast. Ive been a huge fan of fighting games since my first experiences with Street Fighter II, and alongside Soul Calibur and Virtua Fighter, the Dead or Alive franchise has remained amongst my favourites. I have to admit that as Ive aged the series has become an increasingly guilty pleasure, and here, in almost certainly the last iteration of Dead Or Alive 5, the 1080p 60fps visuals may have reached their voyeuristic peak.
