Sgcafe: From 8-bit to live-action: 26 years after the Kunio-kun series first impressed Japanese gamers with its brand of 2D side-scrolling beat-em-up gameplay and heated high school drama storylines, the franchise is finally getting a live-action movie adaptation. Not that anyone expected it to. The latest entry to the franchise, Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-Kun SP: Rantou Kyousoukyoku (SP ) for the 3DS, is currently in development over at Arc System Works. Today the developer revealed that the games release date has been determined to be August 8 in Japan. Along with the date confirmation, they also shared the opening intro for the title. And dropped the live-action bombshell onto series fans.

Stick Skills: "Thomas Was Alone does more with an extremely minimal toolset than many big-budget games could hope to do. Brief, effective narration combines with beautifully simple gameplay and visuals to create a great game. Its just a shame that so many mechanics are left behind without being given enough time to shine."
