God of War: Ascension Review | Awesome Games

Rhys from Awesome Games writes: 'God of War has endured not just as a series, but also as a study of Greek tragedy. Upon the original games release, Sony struck gold with God of Wars delicious blend of brutal violence draped over an interesting world based on Greek mythology. Since then, gamers have seen Kratos slaughter his way through legendary gods and mortals with nary a sweat broken, and with him taking down the mac daddy of all Greek gods at the end of the third game, its only natural that Sony would explore Kratoss origin story to keep the series fresh. God of War: Ascension is the newest game in the franchise, and while its a bit of a step down from the original trilogy, it still manages to deliver a satisfying, if rather brief, experience.'

God of War Ascension Review | EuroGamer Germany

EuroGamer Germany: "Even if the puzzles are a bit uneven in their quality, it is still one of the best hack and slash games around. In the past this series managed to elevate itself from other solidly entertaining games of that ilk a bit better, with all the glorious set-pieces and awe-inspiring moments. These are harder to find in Ascension, though. But what did you expect, when the gods themselves have already been felled? Still, this was a lot of fun, but the next God of War better have some really interesting ideas, if it wants us to really marvel at it again."

God of War: Ascension (PS3), Review | Den of Geek!

From the moment that Kratos ripped off Icaruss wings mid-flight in God of War II and then just stuck them on his own back and flew out of there like nothing had even happened, I knew that the God of War series would be one of the most amazing things ever to happen to gaming. I have fond memories of trading off control of Kratos with my best friend in high school and yelling at everyone on the screen to Suck my chains; and then promptly making them suck on my chains. Its seemed like a long time coming, but the hugely anticipated prequel to the original God of War trilogy is finally here. So how does Ascension hold up to the rest of God of Wars incredible legacy?
