This week the team has been playing God of War: Ascension, Tomb Raider, and Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2.

Right, so I had a bit of a dip in my enjoyment of Ascension, but things are looking up again in the last third. There have been some great puzzles and the combat is improving thanks to an increase in Kratos' power and new unlocked combos. I've also kind of got used to the parry system, so it's now a useful tool even if it's still not as good as it was in previous games.

And the game still looks amazing. I've just completed an area set inside a massive furnace room and when the place lit up with flames the visuals were a treat for the eyes. I'm really looking forward to the final...

God of War: Ascension - GR Review

Kratos is a man of few words.

Sure, he shouts and grunts and generally sounds-off on whatever herculean task he's currently making his bitch, but in general, Kratos keeps quiet. The difference has always been that there's a lot going on around our hero. Massive figures loom in the background and the epic battles that serve as scenery leave the player with an impression of importance and significance in the timeline of Greek mythology.

E3 2011: El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron hands-on preview - lush art meets lunatic design

Added: 13.06.2011 19:08 | 37 views | 0 comments

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is a Japanese-developed third-person action-platformer based upon the Book of Enoch, an apocryphal (read: not considered legit) Judeo-Christian text that was part of the Dead Sea Scrolls. But don#8217;t go thinking you know El Shaddai just because you#8217;ve read your Bible; the game takes a few liberties with its already questionable source material. For example, the main character is a well-cut blonde man prancing around in designer jeans trying to find seven fallen angels in order to stop God from flooding the Earth. Yes, you read that sentence correctly. This. Is. A.Weird. Effing. Game. But that#8217;s actually what makes it so damn interesting...
