| Halo: Spartan Assault Review (BioGamer Girl)
Added: 18.01.2014 14:16 | 11 views | 0 comments
BioGamer Girl states, "Halo: Spartan Assault is an okay game as a twin-stick shooter. Though there are countless other quality games in the genre ready for download at a lower price across multiple platforms, this is the first of its type made available for Xbox One. Xbox One only has a handful of games available for download, so Halo: Spartan Assault will likely be a a popular purchase for early adopters, and only those gamers with serious anti-microtransactions beliefs will regret the purchase."

Twin Stick Spartans
Halo: Spartan Assault first made its debut on Windows 8 mobile platforms, but this December Microsoft also announced its release for the Xbox One and Xbox 360. For a mobile port it looks glorious in 1080p running at 60 frames per second, and its visual and audio design will instantly resonate with long time Halo fans. All of the familiar gun sounds are present, as well as other Halo franchise staples such as Scorpions, Wraiths, Ghosts, and of course the heroic Spartans and troublesome Covenant. Theres no denying that Halo: Spartan Assault is part of the Haloverse; just dont expect it to be on the same level as its traditional console game big brothers.

| Review: Halo: Spartan Assault (DarkZero)
Added: 16.01.2014 16:16 | 9 views | 0 comments
Thomas from DarkZero writes - "Halo: Spartan Assault is a game that started out life as a tablet experiment which has now being ported to Xbox One. That is not a good sign to start with - as it's proven games cannot jump between two such divergent platforms without a few hiccups. The next bad sign - one that should be marked with a big light up arrow - is that in the port over to consoles microtransactions are still on show. Its not just the buy once and be done kind of deal - they are consumable microtransactions - the one's you can buy multiple times. Of course, none of this nonsense would really matter if the core game played well. As I mentioned in another recent review, I've stepped around, and outright ignored, bad microtransactions before, simply because the core game was compelling enough without them. Sadly that's not the case for Spartan Assault."

The game itself worked well on tablets and phones given the control scheme it needed to work with, but when ported to Xbox One it just feels dated.

For the last thirteen years, the Halo universe has been expanding at a breakneck pace. Weve been treated to anime shorts, novels, comics, an RTS game, live-action episodic content, Halo Waypoint, and an upcoming Xbox One exclusive TV series produced by Steven Spielberg. Thats not even taking into consideration the core Halo FPS titles, which include two on the original Xbox and five on the Xbox 360. Thats a lot.
How does Halo: Spartan Assault stack up? Not well, unfortunately.

Gioteck reviews Halo: Spartan Assault:
"Halo: Spartan Assault is an experiment by Microsoft to provide new, lower priced content based upon the Halo Universe. It was originally released as a twin stick, top down shooter for Windows tablets. Clearly, someone at Microsoft has looked at the early release schedule of the new Xbox and decided it would be a safe bet to convert this title to console, to fill the huge void in the release schedule post launch month."
