Halo Spartan Assault probably shouldnt work as well as it does. But not only is its excellent translation to consoles befitting of the high quality development the Windows Phone 8 game initially received, its one of the better digital releases currently on the Xbox One marketplace. The microtransaction model is irking, considering the game costs £12 and is arguably a bit overpriced, but its not at all integral to your progress in the game. Although, be prepared to grind to achieve gold stars on every mission without it. Despite the lengthy list of areas for improvement, Spartan Assault is an unexpected pleasure. There are plenty of DLC considerations to be made here and we really hope the game continues to expand and grow.

Pixels for Breakfast writes: The game was clearly developed for mobile platforms, and bringing it to consoles really makes you see that. However, the formula works and some genuine fun can be had here. 343 Industries doesn't strive to do something new with the Shoot 'em Up genre, and its limitations aren't well represented here. The $19.95 price tag is also a tough pill to swallow, given the cheaper price of its mobile roots. Skipping on Spartan Evolved won't hurt you, but fans of the series will likely have a decent time here.

Playing a twin-stick shooter without, ya know, twin sticks made the entire experience utterly frustrating, and I just couldnt get past the idea of the inferior controls."

While it might not be the one everyone is waiting for, it is certainly one I was interested in playing, considering it was previously only available on Windows Phones, PCs and Tablets. This twin-stick shooter feels like a Halo game with familiar weapons, vehicles and enemies. The developers have also adapted the once touch-only controls, to a more familiar control scheme. While it might not be the adaptation of Master Chief I have been waiting for, it does a nice job of scratching that Halo itch.
