Fallout 3 doesnt follow the same basic formula for open-world sandbox games that has produced some truly great games, from Grand Theft Auto V to The Witcher 3. But what if Bethesda wasnt making an open-world sandbox RPG at all?

| Bethesda wants to build to the point where they can release three or four big titles a year

Bethesda tends to go quiet for long periods after it releases a flagship title, such as in 2011/12 when it released Skyrim and then went almost a year with no new releases as a publisher or developer.
That's something that the company wants to change. We are pretty aware of who we are and we ultimately want to build to a point where we are doing three or four big titles a year, Pete Hines said. I would prefer not to be in the same place we were in in 2011, where we had four titles and then went super quiet. I want to avoid that. We want to get to the point of regular releases.

GameCentral talks to Bethesdas Pete Hines about the future of the company, Fallout 4s graphics, and why Bethesda wouldnt publish Rocket League.
Usually its pretty pointless talking to someone with a job title like Vice President of PR and Marketing. Theyre not directly involved in making games and its specifically their job not to say anything controversial or unexpected. But Pete Hines has been at Elder Scrolls and Fallout publisher Bethesda for 16 years now, and in that time has become one of the figureheads of the company.
