Alien: Isolation: A Beautiful Place to Die

Added: 22.10.2014 21:12 | 10 views | 0 comments

Technology Tell writes, "Alien: Isolation is an attempt to redeem the franchise, partially by reproducing the tension of the original Alien, and partially by incorporating the lessons in building immersive worlds that video games have been imparting for the last generation. Alien: Isolation is just as much Bioshock as it is Alien, Sevastopol Station arriving by way of Rapture. Alien: Isolation exchanges underwater for space and the past for the future, but the result is similar: an immense enclosed system thats in a state of tumultuous decay. Both games create coherent, fully-formed worlds that rigorously adhere to a particular design aesthetic."

Ahmad Khan writes: "It's not unusual for there to be a glut of survival sims hit Kickstarter in the fall, but the quality of them this year has been impressive. Case in point, The Flame in the Flood by startup developers The Molasses Flood. Helmed by Forrest Dowling, one of the primary figures behind Bioshock Infinite, The Flame in the Flood is a survival game the likes of which we haven't seen yet. To get more details on the game, and its wildly successful Kickstarter campaign we had a brief chat with Forrest."

GamersNexus: "Last time we plumbed the depths of Amazon for some great deals, we found Assassin's Creed IV for $15, Civ V for $10, and other affordable titles. To spread the love of great savings, we decided to see what deals Newegg has this week now that they've revamped their game software efforts and we got lucky. It seems both 2K and Ubisoft have some major title discounts right now. 2Ks ends on 10/17 and Ubisofts ends 10/14."

Seriously, This Needs A Sequel (Vol. 1)

Added: 13.10.2014 22:12 | 18 views | 0 comments

UM writes: Sometimes its terrible to love, especially in the wide world of electronic entertainment. Its rare to find a game that doesnt, at some point in the future, have a 2 (or 3 or 64) slapped after its name. Venerated titles celebrated for their artistry and innovation even fall victim to industry sequelization (Portal 2, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Bioshock 2 just to namejust so few) and more often than not, if you loved it once, you can have seconds. But there are those childless titles that stand apart with one game to their name and no one to inherit the digital throne. For whatever reason, the video games Ill be highlighting today have yet to be given an extra life. And before you scroll down, Chrono Trigger aint on here. Lets just leave that (flawless) one be. Please? Thanks.

Bioshock vs. Bioshock Infinite: The Bigger Shock

Added: 20.09.2014 21:12 | 11 views | 0 comments

When asked to list the most significant games of the past decade, most game reviewers, if not all, would place Bioshock on that list. Bioshock Infinite, however, only occasionally reaches that mark in the eyes of most reviewers. And why is that? Objectively speaking, the gameplay and the graphical aspects of the later installation are clearly better. So, why is it that Infinite is treated with less veneration? Oftentimes, the answer is the story.
