Telltale Games is a bit of an odd one. Despite an array of rather mediocre titles and one that was flat out terrible (Jurassic Park really was pretty bad), the somewhat unexpected success of The Walking Dead seems to have wiped the slate clean for a developer that had arguably toiled in mediocrity up until that point. Still, praise where praise is due; The Walking Dead: Season One, despite a few technical hiccups was deservedly heaped with both critical praise and financial success. The question is, can they do it again? Can they continue to match those levels or even surpass them?

Amidst the array of great looking launch titles on Xbox One and PS4, 2K Sports outrageously gorgeous basketball sim makes a very solid claim to be the best looking of the bunch. It might fall just short of the first party likes of Ryse and Killzone (only just mind), but can almost unquestionably go down as the most visually impressive of the multi-format offerings.

In a market as oversaturated as that of the first person shooter, in a world in which a million and one gamers will try to convince you that Call of Duty is utter shit (come on internet, stop being so silly), for any first person shooter to stand out, to have any chance whatsoever of being noticed amid the endless sea of triple A competition, it has to be either, a) technically fantastic or, b) rife with new and exciting ideas. Rekoil: Liberator, well, thats neither.

BioShock Infinite has been treated very oddly by both the press and the gaming public at large. Lauded upon release, its star has since waned over the past year or so, with its absence from the majority of end of year lists proving really rather surprising (for me at least anyway). Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, it just seems that opinion of this game in particular seems to have taken something of a nosedive. Perhaps it was its release early in the year? Maybe GTA V and The Last of US stole its thunder. For many though, I believe that opinion, the memory of BioShock Infinite was damaged by the release of its first story based DLC.
