The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter Review: The Power Of Imagination

Added: 01.08.2015 17:24 | 13 views | 0 comments

Imagination is a powerful thing and, for the titular child at the heart of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, it serves as both a blessing and a curse. Ethan's imagination provides him with freedom while simultaneously alienating him from his own family. It’s an unspeakable horror that holds him captive as well as a hero intent on rescuing him. It provides both salvation and damnation and, for the player, it serves as the foundation for one hell of a narrative journey.

Review - The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter - Playstation 4 | Use A Potion!

Check out Use A Potion's review of 'The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter' on Playstation 4. "The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter was a unique experience. There are so many horror themed games that focus on narrative and exploration, but it still felt that little more unique and special here. There are the beautiful surroundings to get absorbed into, the ominous tunes or solving the trivial puzzles and discovering more about the grisly fates of the Carter family. Most of all though, the narrative really shines theres a sense of mystery that keeps you hooked from start to finish, but the game also delves into the innocent yet imaginative mind of a twelve year old boy. The little stories that Ethan has written and how they all tie into the overall plot are well constructed and add that extra dimension to the game. Ive not played something quite like The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter and The Astronauts should be commended for putting such a great game out there."

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter - PS4 Review | My Games Lounge

The full written review of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter now on PS4. MGL: The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a stunning adventure, with some of the most breathtaking visuals seen in a game. But the developers have also created an amazing atmosphere that sucks you right in and screams to be developed for Morpheus or other VR tech. The gameplay is slow and the puzzles are not particularly challenging which lets the game down somewhat and while the story is good there is nothing you can do to affect it in any way meaning there is not much reason to play through more than once. But it's more than worth that adventure through this beautiful game.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter (PS4) Review | Gamespresso

Gamespresso- The opening of The Astronauts The Vanishing of Ethan Carter offers players a single sentence, This game is a narrative experience that does not hold your hand. And this single statement is, at the same time, the primary fault of the game, and what makes it so absolutely special... The world is majestic, the experiences I uncovered were unlike anything else Ive played, and it was a pure joy to get lost in. Its therefore unfortunate the tail end of the game could not maintain the same high standard.

NGB | The Vanishing of Ethan Carter PS4 Review

NGB Wrote: "The Astronauts have developed a game that puts production values and great narrative in a complimentary package that ends up genuinely engrossing. There is some minor issues beneath the truly gorgeous visuals, plus a little patience might be required for those looking to progress quickly, but The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a title that once helped redefine the idea of what an indie title could be, and now console owners can be part of it, too. I cant recommend it enough."
