Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China is a smaller, more contained experience that plays out in the form of a side-scrolling platformer. If any of that excites you then you should be picking up this game. It's actually a pretty solid offering, surprisingly good for what it is.

It takes a while for the Xenomorph to truly show up in Alien: Isolation, which makes sense. The prolonged delay adds an extra layer of tension, much like the classic 1979 film. When it does makes its grand entrance, the game gets even more difficult. But this is the nightmare mode we're talking about, so difficult doesn't even begin to express the hopelessness of my situation.

Earlier this year I completed Demon's Souls with no armor, shields, magic, or bows as part of Challenge Accepted. Years ago it would have been enough to simply beat the game, but I surprised myself by overcoming all odds and naked rolling my way to victory. It's time to do it all over again with the next game in the series, Dark Souls.

Alien: Isolation is a game that requires careful movement and patience, two mechanics I don't excel at in most games. I had a hard enough time playing the game on normal difficult last year, and here I am cranking it up to nightmare difficulty for this episode of Challenge Accepted. Let's just say I die quite a few times, including one seemingly straightforward section with no androids or aliens to speak of.

Often these are things that momentarily shrink the world down to a more constrained area or path. Just Cause is one of the few series though where the fun is more closely linked to its openness. Its a game not about missions, though those are there, but about the silly chaining together of action setpieces, from surfing atop a moving car, to tethering that car to a lamppost and swinging it off a cliff, to leaping from that falling car and wingsuiting down a mountain, to grappling yourself to the roof of another car, and so on."
