In-depth Review: Sacred Citadel - Electronic Theatre

Added: 16.05.2013 13:17 | 13 views | 0 comments

The Sacred franchise may not be the biggest name in the videogames industry, but its developed enough of a following to support not only a third title, but also a spin-off in another genre. Sacred Citadel is the unlikely scrolling beat-em-up offspring of an action role-playing game, but Electronic Theatre is most certainly pleased that Deep Silver had such faith in the brand as here they offer one of the finest of its ilk on recent years.

Sacred Citadel Review | GameFocus

GameFocus: "To be honest, I cant really fault Sacred Citadel. Sure, the campaign can be knocked out in a weekend, and the combat can get repetitive if you dont take advantage of all the moves the game has to offer. And while it is supposed to set the stage for the main course found in Sacred 3, the story is as predictable as they come, so youll find yourself focusing on how high you can get your combo count up rather than seeing where the franchise is heading with the third entry. However, all of that is not necessarily a bad thing. Fans may struggle with the genre shift, but Sacred Citadel is exactly what it set out to be: A pick-up-and-play side-scroller where button-mashing trumps anything resembling narrative depth. It is a throwback to the days when gaming did not include complex mechanics or award-winning writing. As long as you come in expecting that, youll be more than happy with the $15 investment, especially if you have a buddy or two to join you."

Geek Citadel Mini-Reviews: Nancy the Happy Whore and Anomaly 2

Kevin Jones writes - "Anomaly 2 names itself as a reverse Tower Defense, but its more of an on-rails RTS with a single unit under your control. Players take on the role of the Commander and can move freely about the map as they wish. The Commander can procure and upgrade various units, but they move and fire autonomously down a straight path. The tactical map halts the action and shows the available routes that the squad can pass through. Players can view upcoming enemies and mission objectives on the map. The strategy lies in creating an optimal fight or flight path that would do the least damage to the passing vehicles."

Sacred Citadel Review: Arcade Brawling at Its Okay-est - eXophase

Added: 15.05.2013 19:23 | 12 views | 0 comments

eXophase: "Theres no shortage of beat em ups currently available across digital download platforms. Still, despite the genres profound availability, some games are definitely worth playing while others can be disregarded like an unwanted acquaintance. Sacred Citadel is an interesting brawler because it manages to straddle the line between exhilarating and routine. Its not without its flaws, and it to call it innovative would be foolish, but the more you spend playing it, the more you realize that this is a nice little action game sprinkled with some neat mechanics geared toward the brawler fan."

Review: Sacred Citadel | Metro Gaming

On the surface Sacred Citadel does not appear to be a smart videogame. Its parent series, the popular Sacred action role-playing games, demand the player invest an amount of their playtime in inventory management and tactical combat. Sacred Citadel is a scrolling beat-em-up in which the players ability to hammer out combos is just as important as ensuring you pick up the new loot that is superior to your currently equipped weapons and armour.

Please Don't Make A Mass Effect Prequel

Forbes - Im going to go ahead and declare the Mass Effect trilogy done for good now that the Citadel DLC arrived and finally gave (almost) everyone the ending they wanted for the series. But its a big universe, and just because Shepards arc is over, that doesnt mean the universe will dissipate. Rather, its likely only just getting started.
