IGN- Sacred Citadel Review

Added: 01.05.2013 9:20 | 14 views | 0 comments

IGN:A dispirited attempt at marrying the best of old-school brawlers like Fists of Rage with the obsession-inducing trappings of an action-RPG, Sacred Citadel had the potential to be so much more than it is. Plagued by a ho-hum delivery and combat occasionally interrupted by redeeming boss fights, it fails to distinguish itself.

Sacred Citadel Review | El33tonline

Bryan Johnston at El33tonline writes: "At face value Sacred Citadel looks like a dream fantasy RPG beat em up. Its got four unique character classes, three player co-op, character development, a multitude of killer weapons to discover and plenty of scenic levels to conquer. It seemed to possess a very similar feel to one of the greatest co-op fantasy beat em ups on the Xbox Castle Crashers and if that held true for the duration of the game, Sacred Citadel promised to be a great arcade title. As I discovered after some dedicated hours with Sacred Citadel, however, face value can be deceiving."

NowGamer: "It's feisty, fun and co-op friendly, so as pick-and-play brawlers go, there's little to complain about with Sacred Citadel. Make the trek on your own, however, and it's a slightly different story owing to a rinse-and-repeat sameness that's harder to deny when it's just you eyeballing the same old swarms of enemies over and over again."

Sacred Citadel Review | Canadian Online Gamers

Canadian Online Gamers: "Sacred Citadel is a throwback to the glory days of arcades and side scrolling brawlers, but sadly doesnt really capture the magic of genre classics. Its technically competent, but suffers from repetition and a general lack of diversity and uniqueness. For those reasons, Sacred Citadel is tough to recommend in this day and age. It might be worth a look for extreme fans of the category, but Id recommend trying before buying."

Sacred Citadel - PC Review [Player Attack]

Mythor writes for Player Attack: Sacred Citadel is a side-scrolling beat 'em up at its core, with some gooey RPG caramel slathered over the top to produce a delicious, bite-sized treat. Though you'll not want seconds.

Sacred Citadel's four characters are equally fun to play. Each can hold their own against the hordes of monsters seeking to destroy them.

"With the advent of digital distribution and competitive pricing, its good to see publisher and developers continuing to bring older, as well as newer side-scrolling brawlers. Take original efforts like Castle Crashers, Scott Pilgrim, and Double Dragon Neon as good examples."
