Pillars of Eternity Review | GameCloud Australia

Added: 29.04.2015 13:17 | 3 views | 0 comments

Colton Onderwater at GameCloud Australia writes: "Pillars of Eternity is what RPGs should aspire to be, delivering almost everything that seasoned fans would come to expect from the genre. Essentially, Obsidian knew what kind of experience they were crafting and stuck to what made classics such as Balders Gate as great as they were. Coupled with an immaculate art style and a fantastic world to explore, Pillars of Eternity also stands clearly above similar titles of this style. Players may have to have an interest in traditional RPGs to appreciate the beauty of this game, but I am more than happy to have this title in my library, and can see myself diving into this world over and over again. If youre a fan of older RPGs, definitely dont miss this one."

The Horror Struggle: Silent Hills Was Too Good to Be True

Horror in recession

I remember in the late 90's it felt like I was overwhelmed with great horror games. The original Silent Hill stands as one of the best of the genre and Resident Evil showed how horror can be infused with exciting action, There was also Clock Tower, Dino Crisis, System Shock, Alone in the Dark, and Square's uniquely fantastic Parasite Eve. Each of these games were memorable, shaping high expectations for years to come.

State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition Review | GameCloud Australia

Added: 26.04.2015 16:17 | 15 views | 0 comments

Patrick Waring at GameCloud Australia writes: "I dont know why I loved State of Decay so much, its exemplary of so many typical traits of terrible zombie survival games. Its almost as though theyve crafted a parody of the genre, going balls out to demonstrate the failings and trappings of triple-A titles that came before it. The design is solid and, when it works, the gameplay is engaging, but both get distracted in practice by the ridiculous plot that plagues the game. The music and voice acting only serves to confuse the player, not guide them, and the bugs and other issues are just icing on this awful zombie cake and I ate it up for over 24 hours. These are the issues that I would have reamed other games for, but State of Decay managed to pull them all together to create one of the best unintentional comedy games Ive ever played."
