Added: 26.08.2013 15:24 | 10 views | 0 comments

Despite the fact that both the Wii U and PlayStation Vita have been selling abysmally, Ubisoft still believes a bright future may be in store for both of them.

Ubisoft executive director Alain Corre is quite hopeful about the future of the Vita, especially after the recent price drop. "We were very pleasantly surprised by Sony’s last push on the Vita. Decreasing the price and investing a lot in new IP and trying to use the Vita as a second screen for the PS4, all of that gives a lot of advantages for the future of the Vita," he told IGN. "We’re watching that space and making sure that our PS4 games work on Vita, so the global experience on PS4 is even better."

Assassin's Creed and Watch Dogs publisher Ubisoft is not giving up on the PlayStation Vita or Wii U anytime soon. Speaking with , executive director Alain Corre said he believes both systems have the potential for growth in the future.

"We were very pleasantly surprised by Sony's last push on the Vita," Corre said. "Decreasing the price and investing a lot in new IP and trying to use the Vita as a second screen for the PS4, all of that gives a lot of advantages for the future of the Vita. We're watching that space and making sure that our PS4 games work on Vita, so the global experience on PS4 is even better."

Sony last week. The 3G and Wi-Fi versions of the portable are now available for $200 each.

Regarding Wii U, Corre said Nintendo's stable of franchises are some of the biggest and most compelling in the business. With the right execution, the Wii U can flourish, he said.

"There are millions, tens of millions of fans of Nintendo brands. I'm sure you#146;ve played Mario Kart for hundreds of hours. I did too. There are so many great franchises that are still making people dream," Corre said. "We think these brands will stay with us. After that, it's up to Nintendo to make sure that the machine can reach as many consumers as possible."

"We all think that they'll be able to sell more machines in the future. They have some of the best IP in the world, and some of the best memories for their players. If you've played Smash Bros. in the past, you want to play the next one," he added. "So these brands have a future, for sure. It's up to them to work on more communication to get the machine into more hands."

The Wii U has struggled thus far, selling and 3.61 million units overall. Nintendo is aiming to boost sales by releasing a steady stream of marquee titles.
