Today welcomes another chapter in her rebooted life, Lara Croft Go, a turn-based puzzle game that, while sounding like a strange fit for the heroine, is immensely enjoyable and surprisingly true to the source material.

PG: You only have to suffer through 30 seconds of the crushingly bad Tomb Raider 1 port on iPhone, to realise that Lara Croft's antics aren't exactly suited to touchscreen play. Hitman had the same problem, and Square Enix solved it, switching the game from a stealthy shooter to a turn-based puzzler in the brilliant Hitman Go.

PT: Lara Croft GO adapts the puzzle structure of Pocket Tactics darling Hitman GO to the Tomb Raider setting. Replacing the delightfully unexpected boardgame aesthetic of the earlier game are far more varied, visually appealing backgrounds and artful animations.

IGN: Lara Croft Go may be a mobile spin-off of Tomb Raider, but just as Hitman Go did for Agent 47s stealthy undertakings, it manages to capture the spirit of Laras classic PSX-era adventures and repackage them into something fresh, great looking, and surprisingly classy. Its nowhere near as challenging as I hoped a puzzle game like it would be, but it makes up for this with an action-packed approach to turn-based pacing that brings the thrill of Tomb Raider to life in a whole new way.
