Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God Review | The Otaku's Study

While not the best of the dungeon crawlers, Sorcery Saga provided a strong balance of challenge and mitigating the frustrations present in many titles in the genre.
Got excess but useless items?
Feed them to Kuu!
Just died and worried about losing everything?
You can piggy bank your money before heading out and you still retain your equipped items.
All this and more when coupled with a quirky storyline / characters and decent visuals make Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God worthwhile checking out.

Max, the protagonist of Max and the Magic Marker, searches online for a way to rid himself of his younger brother, Felix. A portal appears in their room, from which a paw emerges to steal Felix. Max follows behind before the portal closes.[5] The game has cartoon-style graphics and an upbeat soundtrack

A complex story with subtle humour does a good job of masking what is potentially a watered down yet very solid adventure game. Fans of the series will welcome this with open arms, and newcomers with any interest in murder mystery ought to give this one a shot.
Terramax joins The Vita Lounge as a guest reviewer once more, taking on the recent PlayStation Vita release of Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse - Episode One.

So, generic story. Older Brother hates younger brother. Older Brother wishes the younger away. Wish comes true and younger get sucked into another dimension. Older brother regrets wishing him away and dives in the portal after him. Incoming weird and wonderful world and a quest to unite the two bickering siblings.
In terms of brotherly love, this fails to capture the genuine bond in A Tale of Two Sons released last year, but you get the gist.
The Curse of Brotherhood is a re-imagining of Max and the Magic Marker, but filled with new ideas, levels and story elements. Its a gorgeous looking game that reminds me ever-so slightly of Heart of Darkness, a little known, big-budget platformer released many years back. From the dark cartooney style, to the aura of mystery, the game plays the atmosphere card perfectly from the very beginning.

GodisaGeek: "Max: The Curse of Brotherhood oozes personality in both its design and gameplay. Sure, the idea of drawing your way out of puzzles is no longer a completely original one, but Max has puzzles that are so cleverly designed and fun to play through, that you forget this fact and focus on the fun you have solving each conundrum.
The difficulty curve is forgiving, although it does ramp up a little more toward the climax, but it never gets close to the levels of irritation that platform games of old managed. The control input method may be difficult for some, but once you get used to it, it becomes second nature and even the fastest sections wont be too demanding. Max may have been sneaked out earlier than we expected, but its a little gem that could easily be over-looked, but will reward gamers who invest their time in it."
