If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Reviews have been split across the board - Young gamers are wondering why there was so much hype for such a straight forward platformer, while old geezers (such as myself) have raved that DuckTales Remastered is just what the 'duck' has ordered. So, which is it? A half-baked remake, or a brilliant, yet faithful comeback?

Tony Miller writes, "Growing up as someone who hadnt yet reached the double digits in age during the late 1980s I was one of many young boys and girls enthralled by the adventures of a money grubbing Scottish duck and his three nephews. I remember many an afternoon in front of the television set watching Scrooge McDuck defending the his enormous money bin from Ma Beagle, Beagle Boys, Magica DeSpell and Flintheart Glomgold. I played the original NES game, and its Game Boy counterpart, for hours and hours. The prospect of an HD remake had me both eager in anticipation and worried that it might not live up to the game I played as a young child. Luckily Capcom handed the game to Wayforward and its just as good, if not better than I remember."

Sure, I knew all about the woo-oos and Scrooge McDuck (mainly because Tuffcub never stops talking about the game) but in terms of content and playability, I didnt know how well it would fare."

VGR - "The original DuckTales videogame first came out on the NES in 1989 and I for one remember playing it at some point in the 90s, although I was only a few years old at the timeI do have fond memories of it, so I was curious to see just how close to the original they would make the game and it turns out, quite close indeed. Being a remake of a NES game, the design is a bit dated and the challenge is higher than the games of today, so bare that in mind"

"Regardless of the gameplay issues and visual quirks, if you are a fan of the original game and the television cartoon, DuckTales Remastered deserves to be played. It really is like playing an episode of the show, and it comes packed with all sorts of unlockables chronicling the characters, television show and making of the game. The gallery in DuckTales Remastered is as close as one is going to come to a digital history book of the series and that alone is worth the price of admission."

After the 16-bit days, the quality of Disney Interactives titles took a huge nose-dive, which is a real shame as some of my favorite video games from this era were Disney titles. However, these titles were created by either Capcom or Virgin Interactive. After nearly twenty odd years (and no Virtual Console release), Capcom decided to task Wayforward with remaking their first and most legendary NES Disney title: DuckTales. As far as remastered titles go, does it fall in the same trap as most HD remasters go, or is it a worthy remake of the NES cult classic?"
