GamesRadar - You would expect DuckTales to be against the HFCYDI selection criteria. We do try to keep it to new releases, and the game itself is a port of a NES game. However! DuckTales Remastered contains a tutorial level at the start, which is brand new for the remake.

Bah, humduck!

Nostalgia can be both a blessing and a curse. Some people criticize companies that use it as a crutch (*cough* Nintendo *cough*), while others appreciate the fond memories that pour forth while playing a game like, well, DuckTales Remastered. The actual craft of nostalgia often gets lost in the debate—simply repackaging a once-great product does not constitute a worthwhile use of nostalgia. DuckTales Remastered hovers in a gray area, with its combination of updated visuals, extensive voice acting, and dated game design. It clearly reminds us of the animated TV show's greatness, and yes, the theme song is still irresistibly catchy. (A WHOO-OO!) But at the same time, let's not forget that the original game was beloved back in the late '80s.

IRB Gamer: "A game more than 20 years old has been restored with beautiful HD visuals, an awesome soundtrack, top-notch voice acting, and classic game mechanics that holds up so well. DuckTales provides great gameplay, but once you get use to the pogo-cane mechanic you wont have that much of a problem. As there is nothing much else that evolves beyond that, not much can stand in your way, and sometimes the game can be just a little too easy on you sometimes. But thats why there are multiple difficulties for varying experience levels. Despite the blasphemy that was just spread by my treacherous words, DuckTales Remastered is not to be missed by fans of the show, the original title, or good games in general."
