This week the team has been playing Saints Row: The Third, Injustice: Gods Among Us and Dishonored: Knife Of Dunwall.

I took a small break from Luigi's Mansion 2 to check out Saints Row: The Third, which is a game I've been meaning to play ever since release. With Volition's next game in the series due in August the time felt right to see what all the fuss was about, and so far I'm glad I gave it a shot. It's still early days but already I've been on a massively varied bunch of missions that at best were hugely entertaining and at worst derivative fun. Technically it's a bit ropey, especially when in vehicles (the frame rate takes a dive to near unplayable levels at points), and I've encountered numerous...

Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall DLC Review | Metro

Metro: "There are too few surprises when it comes to the story and Daud is a disappointingly blunt instrument, but a return to Dunwall is welcome no matter whos conducting the tour."

Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall Review | GodisaGeek

GodisaGeek: "Even with its focus clearly on those that relish chaos, the numerous paths players can take to eliminate targets are here, allowing the more stealth-minded assassins a chance to play the game the way they want to play. With such fun tools like the Arc Mine and Chokedust at your disposal, it almost feels like youre missing out if you dont get your hands dirty, though. Part one of Dauds narrative is a good introduction, but definitely doesnt feel complete on its own merits. Its a fun ride and feels just like Dishonored, but with this clean slate, I cant help but feel that Arkane could have tweaked the template a little more."

OXM: "The Knife of Dunwall is quite obviously severed in two, and the story never gets into its stride. Another lengthy wait, then, but any chance to see more Dunwall and we'll come blinkin'."

Review: Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall (Xbox 360)

Dunwall, done well.

Daud's story runs alongside the main game, and focuses on him being rather miffed by his own actions, seeking the closest thing to redemption he can find. There's also a nice line in posho class war running thorugh it, as Dunwall's big boys and girls realise they're in as much trouble as everyone else. (Bonus points, as well, for a nicely surreal character Daud has to chase down.)

Like the original however, it's the visual storytelling that is key, and the first thing that strikes is what a pleasure it is to be back in Dunwall. Arkane's Victorian-style setting is just as alluring...

Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall

Added: 19.04.2013 10:37 | 23 views | 0 comments

'Avin a whale of a time.
In departing from original hero Corvo and casting you as his nemesis, the Empress-killing Daud, The Knife of Dunwall gives itself room to breathe. You witness familiar events from extremely different perspectives, whilst seeing more of Dunwall's detestable underbelly. Most importantly, the world's key events are given more depth, rather than stretching one character's extraneous sub-stories too thin for this expansion to handle.

Elder Geek: "If you like Dishonored, and want some more sneaky or stabby goodness, The Knife of Dunwall is an easy purchase to recommend especially if youre looking for more of a challenge. Everything about it is more potent: tighter environments, more enemies, a streamlined storyline from a different perspective. And of course, it allows you dig a little deeper into the mysteries of Dunwall."

Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall: The Kotaku Review

Added: 19.04.2013 6:18 | 9 views | 0 comments

Kotaku: "Perhaps the most exciting part of Dishonored, the triumphant assassin game released last year by Bethesda and Arkane Studios, was the feeling we'd get when entering a new area, a new chunk of Dunwall filled with apartments to loot and guards to terrorize."

AusGamers' Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall Review

Added: 19.04.2013 6:18 | 16 views | 0 comments

AusGamers has reviewed Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall and has this to say: These missions dont quite reach the same heights as the main campaigns best moments, and we miss Corvos abilities more than we appreciate Dauds (the constant companionship of that creepy heart Corvo carried around meant more to us than we realised), but theres more effort, imagination and fun across these levels than plenty of big releases manage across their entire lengths.
