FIFA and Sweaty Goals are the Rot at the Roots of English Football

I suffered regular sights of Des Lynam's moustache, and bore witness to the very real horror of Gary Lineker doing his business on the pitch, rather than in adverts for crisps. But several years from now, when my kids are playing for England in their own semi-final against the Germans, it might not be a skied spot kick that costs us a shot at glory in the final. Debunking the Final Fantasy Naming Myth - Sakaguchi talks about the history of JRPGs

Added: 29.05.2015 6:16 | 5 views | 0 comments

Kotaku: For years, no, decades, a legend has sprung up around the title Final Fantasy. It says that Square, which was in dire straits, thought this was going to be its last gamehence, Final Fantasy. The games creator, Hironobu Sakaguchi, says that myth is wrong. As reported by Famitsu, Sakaguchi recently gave a talk about the history of JRPGs. According to Sakaguchi, the original idea was to give the game a title that could be abbreviated to FF in English (in Japanese, that is pronounced as efu efu). Its a nice sounding abbreviation to Japanese ears. The word fantasy in Final Fantasy has always made sense. These games are fantasy. But the word final has always been a sticking point for some players. The legend surrounding the games name, however, explains why final is used.
