Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Review [GameRevolution]

"Though the cracks with stealth and freerunning are starting to show with time, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag does the one thing it means to do surprisingly well: pirates. Sailing the high seas, finding hidden treasure chests among gorgeous tropical archipelagos, letting the waves of turquoise water crash into the Jackdaw, plundering enemy ships without remorse, and hearing your crew sing authentic sea shanties has never felt better." ~ Nick Tan, GameRevolution

Assassin's Creed 4 - Gameinformer Review

Added: 29.10.2013 10:18 | 0 views | 0 comments

Gameinformer writes: "Black Flag is ultimately better than Assassins Creed III. Some elements seem crafted directly in response to criticisms about the previous game... However, some of the same complaints resurface with a vengeance: frustrating stealth, numerous glitches, and poor performance (the framerate is all over the place on the current-gen incarnations). These flaws, combined with the disjointed story and repetitive main missions, make Black Flag a game that fails to live up to its full potential. Though Edwards voyage isnt all smooth sailing, the choppy waters dont sink the ship."

Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag is an incredible pirate adventure. No other game in memory--the mighty Sid Meiers Pirates included--slides you so snugly into the boots of a brash buccaneer and demands that you collect booty with as much stylish aggression. As I steer salty protagonist Edward Kenway through rum-soaked debauchery, hunting for treasure, and brawling with drunken sailors at bars, I gently hum What will we do with the drunken sailor to myself, and feel a keen urge to refer to my colleagues as wench or matey. Thats the strength of Black Flags incredible world. Ironically, its the actual Assassins Creed elements--series legacy moments--that prove rough sailing in an otherwise enjoyable voyage.

GR-UK writes: "If you're anything like me, it's the story that will pull you in to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. And the story is absolutely captivating. The combination of the now classic Assassin's Creed brand of gameplay and the great sense of freedom and adventure when out on the open seas is just as awesome as it sounds. It's not innovative or revolutionary, we've seen it all before to varying degrees, but Ubisoft has become a well-oiled Assassin's Creed making machine over the years. It's not just a brilliant Assassin's Creed, but Black Flag also managed to eclipse every other pirate themed game I've ever played."

Clickonline writes: "Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag is a big, brutal slice of interactive history, taking the increasingly slick elements which have become a part of the series and slapping them into a massive sea-faring adventure. Its a little rough around the edges at times but the addition of piracy to the leaping and stabbing of the franchise adds some much needed personality. So dive into this ambitious new world, just turn off those sea shanties first!"

Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag Review [Game Rant]

Game Rant writes that Refreshing could be applied to several aspects of the games design, with performances and an attention to detail that place it among if not ahead of the franchises best. And with no discernible shortcomings when placed next to its American-Revolution-predecessor, Black Flag is the step into next-gen that many fans have been waiting for.
