Flat Out Of Steam

GamingLives' Editor-in-Chief muses over the incredible pull of the Steam sales, and how the addition of badges and XP was such a smart move.
"Make buying games a game make accessing them a game. Reward players for doing things they would do anyway, just throw up some smoke to take the sting out of it all, before many actually realise theyve spent yet more on things theyll leave on virtual shelves. And so Steam keeps rolling. I just wonder what theyll do next, whether their well of innovation will eventually run dry. For now though, theyve got it bang on."

"It has been a long time since I have been able to immerse myself in an open world fantasy RPG. Between being an adult, tons of other reviews, games that I want to play, and life in general, it simply hasnt been an option to lose myself in the depths of titles like Kingdoms of Amalur or Dragons Dogma. So, when the review for Risen 3: Titan Lords landed on my desk, I was eager to finally have an excuse to go questing and adventuring. What I found, however, was not the glorious escapade that I had been waiting so long for." - PSLS

| Are two Assassins Creed games actually a good thing?
Added: 18.08.2014 4:16 | 7 views | 0 comments
Although it was leaked a while back, Assassins Creed Rogue was recently officially announced. Taking place after Black Flag and involving characters from both that instalment and Assassins Creed 3, it looks to delight those who feel Unitys departure to Revolution-era France is a backward step. As long as they dont mind sticking with the previous generation.
Rogue is exclusively for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, with Unity being exclusive for the new-gen. This dual approach is bold and new, with most developers opting to release different versions of the same game. Is this the smart move, ensuring both games are optimized and get the full treatment? Is it just Ubisofts way of getting us to buy two games to get the full story? What does this mean for future iterations of other franchises?

GodisaGeek: "Obviously, due to being hosted on YouTube, the frame-rate has taken a knock (the original footage is in 60fps), but weve kept the 1080p sheen for you.
Its on the Ascend map, and from Capture the Flag mode. Enjoy!"
