Assassins Creed Liberation HD is a Vita update which already feels like a step back in time

EDGE - If it isnt unreasonable to consider the original Liberation a part of the main series, the release of Black Flag in November made it seven Assassins Creed games in six years. Few games would be able to stand up to such repeated examination in such a short space of time, let alone a franchise that has proven resistant to meaningful mechanical change since its second instalment. Black Flag remedied that somewhat by taking to the high seas, leaving its old ideas floundering and gasping like dying fish on the shoreline. A return to 2012s Vita game, then, feels like a step back in time in more ways than one. Just over a year since its release, Liberation is already beginning to show its age.

From GamesReviews:
"Assassins Creed IV Black Flag is Ubisofts latest attempt at reinvigorating their flagship franchise. With the disappointment that was Assassins Creed 3, especially considering the massive marketing campaign associated with the title, many questioned whether or not the series can still stay relevant. This new sequel is a direct result of Ubisofts awareness with the problems plaguing Assassins Creed 3. AC IV: Black Flag is a stunning and lighthearted action-adventure feast that offers up a gargantuan amount of content."

Push Square: "Isnt it funny how your expectations can adapt in little to no time at all? This intrepid author has spent the past seven or so years scouring negative PlayStation 3 news, but within the span of a couple of months, the outlook of Sonys home console market has significantly changed. Since its release late last year, the PlayStation 4 has been utterly obliterating sales records around the globe, and subsequently annihilating the competition in the process but that wasnt quite case in the latest December NPD report, where the Xbox One hurried away with the next-gen crown. The question is: should this temporary upset send alarm bells ringing in SCEA president Jack Trettons office, or is it just a minor bump in the road?
"Well, its pivotal that we paint some context onto this page before worrying over one months statistics. For starters, the platform holder was eager to point out that its still leading the new console battle in the United States, irrespective of...
