Rain preview: Japan Studio's other Ico heir | Eurogamer

Added: 30.05.2013 13:18 | 5 views | 0 comments

The Last Guardian may still be AWOL, but there's another game from Sony's Japan Studio that takes on Team Ico's spirit. By Martin Robinson Of all Sony's philanthropic ideals - the all-inclusive approach to indie developers, the generosity of PlayStation Plus and the free packet of French fancies that's likely to be bundled with every PS4 console - there's one that remains unsung. PlayStation C.A.M.P. - that's Creator Audition Mash-up Project, by the way - is a little department within Japan Studio that's responsible for some of Sony's oddest games. The premise is simple, if a little hard to believe. PlayStation C.A.M.P. is an open-armed initiative that lets anyone with an idea pitch a game to Sony, and if they're successful, to see it through to completion with the assistance of established development talent. It has brought us Trash Panic (something of an unsung wonder itself), sparked off the project that became Echochrome, and recently had its highest profile hit with To...

Jigsaw puzzles are cool again in Puzzle Axe: a game of monsters and music

Added: 28.05.2013 23:18 | 7 views | 0 comments

When we were kids, jigsaw puzzles were those funny pictures of cats and national landmarks we put together at Grandmas house, jamming the pieces in until they fit. Many of us have moved on to new hobbies, but now a team of developers at Montreal-based company Trinôme is reminding us why theyre still cool by moving them off the table and on to mobile devices. The project is a twist for the French company, which usually works with television and web shows. Thats actually what Puzzle Axe started as before Trinôme scrapped it into a game. This isnt a totally new excursion for the group, however. Producer François Veillette has some background in making web-based games such as point-and-click adventures a good basis for the jigsaw meets adventure Puzzle Axe but this is the first professional venture into games for community manager Alphonse Hà.

Dishonored The Knife Of Dunwall Review [DLC] - Worlds Factory

Added: 28.05.2013 21:17 | 19 views | 0 comments

This Dishonored The Knife of Dunwall review is really just an excuse to go back to Dunwall. A very nice prospect, as Dishonored was certainly one of the best video games of this past season, as well as one of the best action games in recent years, satisfying both the gaming public and the press, concerned less with gameplay and more with the talent French developers Arkane Studios lavished upon their creation.

Atari to sell RollerCoaster Tycoon, Test Drive franchises at auction

Added: 23.05.2013 17:43 | 3 views | 0 comments

Bankrupt publisher hoping to bring in at least $22 million from upcoming asset auctions.

Bankrupt publisher Atari Inc., the US branch of French owner Atari S.A., has failed to find a buyer for its portfolio of franchises and will not attempt to sell them off piecemeal.

reports that bidding on a pool of game franchises and the Atari name itself, will start at $15 million.

The minimum bid for the RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise is $3.5 million, while potential buyers must pay at least $1.5 million for the Test Drive series.

Minimum bids totaled around $22.2 million, according to a court filing Wednesday.

Atari Inc. . According to The Wall Street Journal, its investment banker reached out 180 would-be buyers, with about half agreeing to pursue purchases. However, only 15 actually submitted bids, none of which were approved by Atari.

Thus, Atari Inc. now plans to sell its brands on a franchise-by-franchise basis during auctions beginning next month. The Humongous, Fatty Bear's Birthday Surprise, and Math Gran Prix franchises are going for $500,000, while the Total Annihilation series will be available with a $250,000 floor price.

Before the auctions can take place, a judge must approve of the sale process, something Atari hopes can happen during a June 11 hearing. Bids must then be submitted by July 10 ahead of auctions to take place July 16, 17, 18, and 19. If all goes to plan, Atari will seek final approval of all sales during a hearing on July 24.

Atari is also seeking permission to sell games "of minor value" separate from the official auctions. None of these titles were specified.
