Witching Hour Studios doesn't play when it comes to its strategy games. After blessing mobile gamers with the well-received two years ago, the studio returns to the same setting for Ravenmark: Mercenaries. And while asynchronous multiplayer is the big story, it's not the only reason that this free-to-play game of tactical war-gaming is worth some storage space on your iOS device.

Breach Clear Review (iPad)

Mobile gamers are used to seeing the occasional "Coming soon" message. A precedent made famous by the Angry Birds series, mobile developers have developed a tendency to tease future updates by leaving un-selectable options on the menu with a "Coming soon" notice attached. Breach & Clear is a shining example of what happens when teasing future content is taken to a new level, leaving behind a half-finished game that isn't all too fun to begin with.

Fizzy Factory Review (iPad)

There's no shortage of Arukone-inspired puzzles on the App Store: all require players to connect two like ends via a single, unbroken line. Fizzy Factory follows in the colorful footsteps of these puzzle predecessors, but introduces a bevy of original ideas that makes its experience new, challenging, and refreshingly fun.

Bloons TD Battles Review (iPad)

Monkeys that live in the jungle and in zoos are infamous for throwing, uh, stuff. Stuff of their own making. Fortunately, video games can do wonders for a species' image. The Bloons TD tower defense series on iOS and Android has monkeys hurling darts, bullets, ninja stars, and other sharp/bladed objects to defend themselves against the greatest threat ever known to primates: balloons. Bloons TD Battles continues the balloon-popping wars, but this time you must match your monkeys against live opponents.

Hakitzu Elite: Robot Hackers Review (iPad)

Added: 22.07.2013 19:00 | 8 views | 0 comments

The idea of programming robots and such from within a video game is both cool and daunting. It's also been done both well and not so well in the past. Hakitzu Elite: Robot Hackers marks another attempt at the concept that's been simplified for beginners, but also offers more complex options for anyone who really wants to dig in. And it does a surprisingly good job of it - aside from the rough menu UI, anyway.

Gentlemen! Review (iPad)

Added: 22.07.2013 17:00 | 4 views | 0 comments

I've thought many times before that there simply aren't enough local multiplayer games for tablet, in which two players battle it out from either side of the device. It seems like the perfect reason to whip out the iPad over a drink with a friend, or whittle away the hours on a long train journey. Gentlemen! fits this scenario perfectly, and I'll definitely be reaching for my tablet time after time, if only to laugh in the faces of my foes as I rain pigeon-based hell down on them.

In the future, all of Earth's resources have been depleted, forcing mankind into space to search for alternative energy solutions. The rings and moons of Saturn, being rich deposits for the elements and minerals we need to fuel our never-ending obsession with progress and ease-of-life, become a sort of large-scale energy mine for our struggling race; but all is not well. Sine Mora Review (iPad)

Sine Mora was released last year on consoles and PC to a combination of critical praise, but still mostly flew under the radar. Over a year later, the bullet hell-style shoot'em up has made its launch on iOS. It manages to retain many of the elements people liked about the game. Unfortunately, a few problems remain, and new ones manage to pop up due to its mobile platform.

Nuclear Outrun Review (iPad)

Added: 19.07.2013 17:00 | 3 views | 0 comments

Gamezebo Rating: 70

All of us harbor a deep-rooted fear of nuclear war. The prospect of a superpower losing control, pushing the button, and leaving us with a world of ash, rock, and poisoned air is so terrifying that we have to smile and laugh about it on a day-to-day basis just to stay sane. Maybe that's why Nuclear Outrun for iOS introduces a wasteland teeming with hipsters, cheerleaders, and irradiated zombies wearing rainbow afro wigs. There's lots of violent driving action to be had here, but dealing with the hefty in-app purchases is as much fun as suffering through a case of radiation poisoning.

Compulsive Review (iPad)

Added: 18.07.2013 23:00 | 2 views | 0 comments

Gamezebo Rating: 60

Puzzlers on the iOS platform are a dime a dozen, so if you plan on releasing yet another one into the wild, you need a selling point to keep your ideas fresh. Despite its relatively simple setup and user interface, Compulsive is a tricky puzzler with plenty to offer by way of addictive fun. It may be a barebones effort, but it's slick, organized, and it knows how to eat up hours of your time.
