Warhammer Quest Review (iPad)

Gamezebo Rating: 90

When you get right down to it, Warhammer Quest is a fairly straightforward action-RPG that's set in a generic fantasy world. This is actually good news though, because despite taking place in the Warhammer Fantasy universe, familiarity with that setting - which many potential players, myself included, completely lack - isn't necessary to enjoy it. The better news is that you will enjoy it, because while it may not be particularly revolutionary, it is extremely well-refined.

Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright Trilogy Review (iPad)

In late 2005, Capcom released a Nintendo DS port of their popular Game Boy Advance title, Gyakuten Saiban, to U.S. audiences for the first time as Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Eight years later, the game has seen numerous sequels and spin-offs released for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS alike (with more still to come), and now the original trilogy of titles is available for iOS systems in high definition for the very first time. But do these titles that make up Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright Trilogy still hold up in court?

Castlot Review (iPad)

It's unfortunate, but I found my principal enjoyment of in the names that some of its most devoted players use to refer to it in the public and alliance chat channels. One person calls it "Cashalot," while recounting the dozens of dollars he spent on protection scrolls to level; another calls it "Cast Lots," referring to a gambling-based resource game. They speak from long experience. After all, Castlot isn't exactly a new social strategy game - it's been around for a couple years in beta, and the recent update simply introduced some upgrades to the gameplay and aesthetics. But if my couple of hours with it were enough to serve as any indication, they're not necessarily substantial enough to warrant casting lots of your own in the hope of a better experience.

SlamBots Review (iPad)

Added: 03.06.2013 17:39 | 6 views | 0 comments

Gamezebo Rating: 80

Quite honestly, I didn't "get" SlamBots at first. I booted up the game, bounced around for a while, died rather quickly, and wondered what the heck all of that was about. I tried again, and received essentially the same results. And then again, and again, and perhaps a few more times as well.

Battlestone Review (iPad)

You ever spend six digits on a brand new sports car after admiring it from afar, only to get it home and find out that mechanical issues kept it from being as awesome as you expected? Me neither, actually. But I imagine it would feel similar to playing Zynga's latest action-RPG, Battlestone. It looks great, and it drives... er, plays smooth, but there are definitely a few gremlins under the hood.

Mansion Run Review (iPad)

Added: 30.05.2013 21:00 | 6 views | 0 comments

Gamezebo Rating: 60

Mansion Run is a simple "endless runner" in which you play as a dapper skeleton named Bones Wellington, who must flee from a gang of ghosts while dodging haunted furniture and collecting the bones that are lying around his mansion. It'll put your reflexes to the test, but aside from a steady increase in obstacles and speed, what you see in the first 30 seconds of play is quite literally what - and all - you get.

Penguins! Escape Review (iPad)

Added: 30.05.2013 17:00 | 4 views | 0 comments

was a novel game during many a childhood, especially if you grew up in the golden age of PC gaming. It was a bizarre exercise in sending the helpless creatures to their death if you weren't quick or savvy enough to figure out an escape route. It was gleefully morbid beneath the veneer of cuteness, and offered multiple enticing layers of strategy across several different games. WildTangent's Penguins! Escape is a clone that takes the cuteness factor of Lemmings and ups the ante, by giving you hundreds of adorable little penguins marching along from a start point to an end point that you must safely get them to. It's nearly the same game, but it's adapted for iOS players and touch controls. And it's actually quite fun.

Hope: The Other Side of Adventure Review (iPad)

Added: 29.05.2013 17:03 | 8 views | 0 comments

Gamezebo Rating: 50

Have you ever wondered what Princess Zelda was going through while she desperately waited for Link to come to her rescue? Maybe you have, and maybe you haven't, but I'd like to believe that if handled properly, her story could make for an interesting twist on the classic tale of the hero's journey. Unfortunately, Hope: The Other Side of Adventure takes what could have made for a groundbreaking and empowering experience, and utterly destroys it by substituting community theater-level soliloquy and angst for compelling gameplay.
