In what is a sentence that I'm about to have taken wildly out of context from this point onwards, the “match-3” sub-genre shares a key similarity with the works of William Shakespeare. That being: it's at the focal point of people's obsession with “reinvention.” In the same way you'd be hard pressed to go watch a performance of Hamlet today without hearing about the bold choice to set it in a dystopian future or the wild west, each new jewel, orb, or color-matching release comes complete with a twist.

We cover plenty of new games here at Gamezebo every week, but the number of games we’ve already covered that show up on new platforms? It’s staggering. This Wednesday and every Wednesday, Gamezebo is rounding up the games that aren’t quite new, but might be new to you depending on your platform of choice. And who doesn't love new(ish) games?

Released back in the summer of 2011, the explosive sequel to ‘Splosion Man added environmental variety, increased difficulty, and new gameplay elements to go along with its pink character palette. The ‘Splosion series was one of the few remaining Xbox exclusives, but no longer. Along with a straight PC port, now you can finally ‘splode on the go. Ms. Splosion Man retains its awesome and charm on your iPhone and iPad, but the additions to this port threaten to contain the blast.

Abstract board games are amongst the oldest entertainments devised by humanity. And despite the dominance of ancient classics like Chess and Go, abstracts are still being designed and produced in the modern age. Abalone is one such, originally released in 1987, and now taking the jump to the iPad.

Do you remember ; despite their wildly different play mechanics, all of these games share a common bond: push-based multiplayer.

Know what I miss? Arcade-style racing games. It seems like these days everyone’s focused on realism and simulations. That’s why it’s fairly refreshing to jump into Nitro and blaze through a few laps; it’s not exactly brimming with power-ups or cartoon characters, but it’s less focused on the real world and much terested in slightly wacky fun. And chibi cars.
