GotGame: Obviously the hook of the game is the highly touted 30 Years of WrestleMania mode that lets players relive some of the classic matches over the course of the events history, which begins with Andre the Giants $15,000 Body Slam match against Big John Studd. As you progress through this mode, youll have to ensure that the real outcome of every match unfolds the way it should.

Skylanders: Swap Force Review | The Game Scouts

Tin Salamunic: Its difficult to get excited about games aimed at kids. Theres a certain disenchanting stigma attached to them and its easy to be dismissive of their typically shallow, dumbed-down gameplay and oftentimes-heartless experiences. There are exceptions of course and the Skylanders franchise in particular stands as the prime example of how games for younger audiences should be treated. I didnt get onto the Skylanders hype train until the Giants predecessor back in 2012, but once I experienced the action figurine/portal aspect of the game, I was immediately hooked. Activisions latest entry takes the series to a whole new level by introducing swappable body parts and makes an already superb kids game even more immersive and diverse.

KG: "We were both very interested to see how this years game would stack up, especially since it launched not long after its new, and wildly popular, competition Disney Infinity. Last year Giants game out but, while enjoyable, it didnt feel like a huge step for the series. I admit to being more than a little concerned that Swap Force might not be able to hold its own. However I should have known better than to count the Skylanders as down and out."

Giants sold 35% more units than Swap Force.

The two heavy hitters prove too much for Activision's Skylanders: Swap Force which must settle for third place on its debut week. The bad news for Activision is that last year's Skylanders Giants sold 35 per cent more than Swap Force has managed during its opening week. The Wii version proved most popular, accounting for 37 per cent of all Swap Force sales.

Pokemon X and Y drop to No.4 and No.5, respectively, followed by Beyond: Two Souls which recorded a 60 per cent drop in sales week-on-week.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition saw a 19 per cent sales boots, helping it...

Eurogamer - Skylanders SWAP Force Review

EG:"Steady as she goes" might well be the design mantra for this third entry in Activision's hugely successful kids franchise. Vicarious Visions takes over from series originator Toys for Bob, and while comparisons with Infinity Ward and Treyarch's shared custody of the Call of Duty series may be premature, this certainly has the feel of a second studio on babysitting duty. There are additions and improvements here, but it's more a refinement of the template put in place by last year's Skylanders Giants than a meaningful step forwards.

DC - "When Skylanders Giants came out, I figured maybe the series had hit a wall. It was different from Spyro's Adventure, but not different enough to keep fresh. It was fun, but the series was in serious need of finding a new direction, maybe change up in gameplay and someway of keeping the characters in general interesting. So what in the world could Vicarious Visions do to basically keep this series from becoming stale?"
