This was originally reported by Game Informer after Gamestop notified them that the release window for the game was pushed to a tentative date, indicating that the game would not meet its September release. Well, Comcept has explained why the date has been pushed back.

You might not know this, but Elite: Dangerous will be the fourth game in the series. The space simulation started way back in 1984, and it actually featured three-dimensional graphics. The original was way ahead of its time. Now with the gains in technology, Dangerous will feature the entire galaxy on a massively multiplayer platform. The game originally was a Kickstarter project in 2012, and will soon be available for Xbox One. We sat down at E3 2015 with the Executive Producer for the space simulation, Ben Dowie, to get some formation about the game and where it started off.
