Paste Magazine: Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy Review

Paste Magazine: The PlayStation Vita is what I like to call an anime trash machine. The platforms chock full of oddly named videogames like Criminal Girls and htoL#NiQ which are all, to one degree or another, offbeat at least by Western standards. They tangle with mechanics traditionally eschewed by larger video games on different systems, and anime trash is the best way Ive come to describe the aesthetic: high school students or younger with vibrant hair and clothes, often dealing with the supernatural, alien, or bizarre.

Capcom is in a strange place at the moment. While were still awaiting their inevitable Resident Evil 7 announcement, their focus has shifted more towards giving a new generation of gamers a taste of what made the company so popular ten to twenty years ago. Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition, Resident Evil Remake, Mega Man Legacy Collection and Resident Evil 0; theres no shortage of re-releases in Capcoms schedule. At E3 this year, we got hands-on with Resident Evil 0 HD, bringing one of the very few horror titles to ever grace the GameCube onto a new set of consoles, and best yet, PC.

ModVive: During my time as a reviewer Ive gotten to play a wide variety of dungeon crawlers. Those ranging from Diablo-esque to rougelikes all the way to turn based affairs. However, my journey through Operation Abyss is the first time Ive gotten to mess with the classic first person style dungeon crawling. Ive played a few when I was younger including Might and Magic, but its been a long time since Ive touched one.

Mega Man Legacy Collection Preview | GameRevolution

GR: The remastered title: We all want to dump on this concept, and then one remake will come along and steal our hearts and wallets right out from under our nostalgia. Capcom was banking on this during this E3, and if you're a fan of the Blue Bomber, Mega Man Legacy Collection is gunning for you... and damn, if it didn't work on me. Mega Man Legacy Collection bundles six classic NES titles featuring Rock, aka Mega Man. Players can select from faithful 8-bit ports of Mega Man 1-6, choosing to play in rich, crisp 8-bit glory or filtering it out to resemble your old, grainy, 1986 Zenith TV. The sprites have been made crisper by way of the new Eclipse Engine.
