Even when I was, there were so many bugs that the game wasn't even fun. It was impossible to manage traffic because of logic flaws. Maxis had so many problems on their hands -- including unstable servers -- that I started to look at other flaws with the game. It was a SimCity that lost its identity as the city-management game that tons of gamers loved, shifting into a role as a multiplayer, multi-city reliant sh*t show of bugs with nothing but excuses thrown at consumers for why there couldn't be an offline mode."

Maxis mentioned this weekend that they were still working on an offline mode for city-building game SimCity. Today they revealed that this mode will be part of Update 10, the game's next patch.

The folks over at Maxis have announced that SimCity now supports mods.

The news was first outed on the game's official website, which also outlines a number of restrictions that are tied to this newly added feature. As one might expect, "mods must not jeopardize the integrity of the gameplay or harm the experience of others," and "mods that affect the simulation for multiplayer games and multiplayer features, such as leaderboards or trading with other players, are not allowed."
