Update: Microsoft has clarified that it's not the entirety of Crackdown 3 that will be available during summer 2016, as Dave Jones seemed to suggest. Instead, it's just multiplayer that will be playable in that window, according to a tweet. Whether that means a beta test or something else remains unclear, but we've followed up to find out more.

Based of its own sources, website Neowin believes that the install base for Windows 10 is already passed 25 million and "may be as high as 27 million." The adoption rate isn't as ferocious as it was earlier at 1500 installs per second, but that's nothing to scoff at either. Microsoft has yet to confirm these staggering figures.

Last year, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida told DualShockers that the team was ready to develop an Xbox One port of the game as soon as Microsoft opened to cross-platform gameplay. Recently, Microsoft opened to cross-platform gameplay between Xbox One and Windows 10, and Yoshida-san gave DualShockers an update on the situation, also mentioning the possibility of a future negotiation for Nintendo's NX.

When Games for Windows Live support was removed from Dark Souls last year, I rejoiced. I imagine folks did the same for Dead Rising 2, Resident Evil 5, and other games that ditched Microsoft's PC gaming platform. It may have bruised Microsoft's ego, but the company appears to have learned from its mistakes.

Sony hasnt had a terribly large presence at Gamescom this year, certainly not at the level of Microsoft MSFT -0.71% which actually had a full-on stage show earlier in the week. But they have debuted one interesting new piece of tech for the PS4 which could almost work as a quasi-answer to Microsofts new Windows 10-to-Xbox One streaming functionality.

"Who would have thought that the promise of old games could be such a fantastic marketing device? "You really have to take your hat off to Microsoft here. They could have so easily pushed it as an exciting feature that the other side don't have and then left it at that. "You don't actually need those additional titles, but just the value it seems to add for people is staggering.
