Playstation Network has always been inferior to the Xbox Live service. It made sense last generation since Xbox Live required a monthly fee for online multiplayer whereas the PSN was free for all users. However, this time around, with similar monthly fees, the PSN has no excuse but to achieve the level of Xbox Lives quality. Ever since the PS4 launched, PSN has been subject to numerous online issues, issues ranging from matchmaking to slow downloads for digital games.
