Best of 2014 Awards: Best Publisher

Winner: Microsoft

One year ago, I wouldn’t even consider Microsoft for this award, but the Xbox One has narrowed the gap between the initial reaction to the console compared to the PlayStation 4. While the PlayStation 4 still has the indie crowd in its hands, Microsoft has focused on a smattering of solid first-party and third-party exclusives, including Sunset Overdrive, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Fantasia: Music Evolved, Forza Horizon 2, and Killer Instinct Season 2. We can only hope that Microsoft continues its hot streak through next year with Halo 5: Guardians, Crackdown, and Scalebound.

ASTRO Gaming A50 Wireless Headset with Dolby 7.1 Review Music to My Ears (Prima Games)

Christopher Buffa (Prima Games): If by chance youre single and living alone, buy surround sound and crank up the volume to a 100. Enjoy the thundering bass of the subwoofer during heated rounds of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Far Cry 4. Revel in the crackle of gunfire and thunderous explosions now, because theres a good chance your life will turn upside down once you get married and have kids. If you fall into that camp, you know exactly what Im talking about. Heres the deal. Im married to my wonderful wife and her parents live with us in a two-story house. They go to bed rather early, which gives me three or so hours to enjoy some games before passing out myself, but theres a catch. Despite the house being a decent size the rooms are fairly close by, which makes raising the volume impossible without waking someone up.

Best of 2014 Awards: Best Xbox Console Exclusive

Added: 20.12.2014 20:00 | 4 views | 0 comments

Winner: Sunset Overdrive It's not hard to discover the derivative nature of Insomniac's open-world shooter featuring energy-drink swilling yahoos who'd sooner eat your face off than offer you a free can. In fact, collecting Overcharge in Sunset City becomes a wholly entertaining distraction because of how easy it can be to slide into the rhythmic gameplay. It sounds foolish to bounce from picnic table umbrella to literally slide on water, only to wall-run and then grind a few miles via wire. Still, Sunset Overdrive's drop-dead gorgeous visual flair pushes this comforting and classically inspired gameplay design over the line to nab this award. Nominees: Forza Horizon 2, Fantasia: Music Evolved, Sunset Overdrive, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Titanfall Read our Sunset Overdrive review here>>

Namco to open Pac-Man-themed restaurant in Suburban Chicago

Added: 18.12.2014 3:11 | 3 views | 0 comments

Music has the Hard Rock Cafe. Film has Planet Hollywood. Its high time the game industry had its own cheesy, tourist-trappy theme restaurant to part visiting rubes from their money. Apparently, Namco agrees with that sentiment, given the companys plans to open Level 257,
